How was your Easter?

  • Today I am thankful for: The bite wasn't as bad as it could have been and Lexi didn't get infection.

Been really busy with spring sports starting.  Lexi started soccer on Tuesday and Tyler started baseball on Thursday.  Nicole has also been lighting the stage with her singing.  She was chosen to sing with a local male vocalist a duet for her school.  She was so believable in her role her one teacher said she cried and one of the boys actually got jealous.  Not sure if that's a good thing or bad.

Then on Thursday..... well, it started out I took my baby for her kindergarten physical and shots.  She did really well with the vaccinations.....only whimpered a little.  She was not happy later about the whole thing.  And then, a few hours later, she came into the house crying and bleeding badly from her thumb.  Here the neighbor's dog was stalking birds and Lexi decided to go over and say "Hello" and pet the dog.  Well, the dog didn't appreciate it....not one bit and, well, bit her.  I had Nicole run for the neighbor while I gathered my wits about myself, applied pressure to try and stop the bleeding and called the doctor.  I think the neighbor was more upset than I was although I was so hoping Lexi didn't need shots for Rabies because the neighbor indicated it had been awhile.
Got to the doctor and they were more concerned about
infection than rabies especially when they found out the dog didn't come after Lexi but the other way around.  Unfortunatly they did have to report it.  I felt bad about that but I didn't want Lexi to get sick either.  Since she had only her tetanus that morning we didn't have to worry much about that.  They put like a glue on her finger in lieu of stitches and sent her home with an antibiotic.
So the weekend because a little stressed as Lexi fought a mild fever.  By Saturday I had her back in and the doctor still didn't know what it was from.  He thought it was too long for the vaccinations to be causing it but he could find nothing else.  The fever seemed to go away by Sunday afternoon and I don't think it's been back.
So no soccer for awhile and we got to keep it clean and relatively calm.  It didn't seem to make her scared.... when we were hiking on Sunday we came across at least four dogs and she asked the owners to pet each one.  I was glad she asked this time.

One more thing?  Has anyone been watching Dancing WIth The Stars?  I cannot believe how well Marlee Matlin is doing!  If you haven't seen her, watch next week!  You will be awed!
